It is 1 year since the inception of LABA.LA! It has been a remarkable road of experiences and collaboration between Lithuanian & American professionals from various industries. Panevėžys Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts Delegation has spent several days in Los Angeles during their Business Mission to USA. LABA.LA in Partnership with Consulate General of Lithuania brought together local business representatives from various industries in Los Angeles to discuss experiences doing business in Los Angeles area, exchange opinions, ideas and connect business professionals opening opportunities for collaboration.

Energetic, constructive and fruitful discussions with Ignas Krupavičius a journalist and a host of the "Labas rytas, Lietuva". He has recently completed military service as a volunteer. Discussion will be continued in Vilnius over Christmas Holidays!

On November 4th, LABA.LA organized Film Industry Networking Event during AFM (American Film Market) in Santa Monica bringing together Lithuanian & American Film Makers & Producers and Local Film Industry Professionals. The event was sponsored by LABA.LA, URM (Global Lithuania) and LWAC. LABA.LA in partnership with Lithuanian Consulate General invited all professionals to a networking event with Saugirdas Vaitulionis, Editor of Entertainment at Alfa.lt and Co-Founder of Kelionių Ekspertai and Vilija Malinauskaitė, West Express/HRG Lithuania Head of the Department to discuss business, politics and media's impact of Lithuania's diaspora.

LIFE SCIENCES BALTICS 2016 fastest growing tech sector in EU on 9/14-15 in Vilnius, Lithuania attracted 1,500 participants from 30 countries, 1,300 B2B to help startups, 50+ speakers, 40+ booths/vendors.

Delegations from Japan and Israel attended and signed cooperation agreements; prof. E.Siksnys who presented his discoveries for CRISPR ( new gene editing technology hailed as the bio achievement of the century); Sunrise Incubator (Vilnius, VU) and the Confluence incubator (Kaunas, KTU) presented their science and technology advances and capabilities plus facilities for startups.

Organized by Enterprise Lithuania, with partners LT Ministry of Economy, LT Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MITA. Sponsors included an array of international companies such as ThermoFisher, TEVA, Sicor Biotech, Profarma. Support also received from Israel Lithuanian Technology Hub, Federation of Israeli Chamber of Commerce, Japan Bioindustry Association, Akron BioMedical Corridor. California (UCSF), Harvard Medical School, Cornell were represented by speakers.

On June 24th LABA.LA (Lithuanian American Business Association in Los Angeles) in partnership with Consulate General of Lithuania held a networking event featuring "Newsec" CEO Ugnius Meidus and focusing the discussion on real estate trends in Baltics & Nordics, investments, student exchange possibilities and other topics.

Professionals of Lithuanian American Business Association in Los Angeles (LABA.LA) had a pleasure to meet with honorable guest Mr. Ignas Staškevičius - Lithuanian businessman, author and doctor. He gladly shared about his business experience with Vilnius Prekyba (one of the largest Lithuanian groups of private companies with revenues over €3 billion and 35,000 employees) in Lithuania and Europe. Lively discussion went beyond business and evolved into marathons, leadership skills, book writing and publishing and new global projects.

LABA.LA appreciated the invitation to speak at INFOBALT export committee's meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania. Kęstas Barzdaitis and Edvardas Jatautas presented their experiences showcasing ICT products and services in USA market. The talk also highlighted US demography, economy and diplomatic relations between Lithuania and USA. INFOBALT member companies were invited to visit Los Angeles and promote collaboration between Lithuania and USA.
